Welcoming the conversation to Evansville

In October 2017, UNOE hosted the Regional Neighborhood Network Conference at the Old National Events Plaza. I helped organize the event and opened the conference.

A shared space for ideas

The three-day gathering brought together neighborhood advocates and community leaders to share experiences, learn from one another, and build relationships.

Local voices on the stage

The program included local leaders and speakers such as then-Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, then-Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch, Lulu Porter, Lynn Miller Pease, Rev. Adrian Brooks, and Sean Georges.

A community effort

Volunteers, neighborhood organizations, families, and local partners helped make the event possible. My wife, Erin, was among those involved. The story is as much about that shared effort as it is about any one organizer.

Why it matters to my campaign

Good ideas do not stop at neighborhood boundaries. I want to keep learning from people, bring useful ideas home, and help residents connect with one another.
