My community story

The Presidents Neighborhood

The place where my neighborhood leadership began.

A Presidents Neighborhood community project

Building something with our neighbors

I helped establish the Presidents Neighborhood Association with three other neighbors. What began as a local effort became an ongoing commitment to the streets, homes, and people around us.

Keeping people informed

I developed the association’s first newsletter and contributed its logo and later variations. Sharing useful information was part of bringing neighbors into the conversation, not simply announcing decisions after they were made.

Getting involved in the work

Neighborhood cleanups and improvement projects have been part of that commitment. Sometimes leadership means organizing a meeting. Sometimes it means helping with the work on the ground.

A practical example: Highway 41

Our fence-line project along Highway 41 brought neighbors, city staff, and INDOT into a shared effort. It is one example of why I value persistence and cooperation.

What I bring to Ward 2

I served as the association’s president and remain involved in neighborhood leadership. That experience taught me to listen, visit the places people are concerned about, and stay engaged when a problem takes time to solve.
